The Streaming Giant Casts Perfect Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bentham. This character has the ability to transform into an perfect replica of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. The actor, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that character reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the initial comic and cartoon version.
The new cast member is joined by multiple fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to reality, featuring chief Sir Crocodile, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who is also part of the cast as the ruler of Alabasta.
Though the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this marks a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could signal further changes to the story’s structure.
Their mix of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
