Shock as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three suspects, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose behind the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.
Details of the Attack
Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the building overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a security uniform opening fire on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but collapsed across the street.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the crime scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been following their trail to find their location," added an official.

"I am in shock. I am shattered," were her words.
