Renowned Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a statement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, such as:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.
Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his family.
