These individuals are rejoicing over a massacre that relief organizations believe killed more than thousands of people in the Sudanese metropolis of al-Fashir last month.

A City Isolated from the Outside

Following their control of the city under encirclement for nearly 24 months, from the summer the RSF moved to strengthen its dominance and restrict the leftover residents.

Orbital photography show that fighters began to erect a enormous berm - a raised earthen wall - around the edges of el-Fasher, blocking entry points and preventing humanitarian assistance.
