The original creators behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has announced how corporate owner the multinational conglomerate prevented the launch of a new pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, who established the company with his partner, announced how he will independently develop this new product as part of a personal collection showcasing issues Ben & Jerry's has been prevented from speaking out about.

Ongoing Conflict Involving Creators versus Parent Company

The recent announcement intensifies the continuing conflict between the world-famous ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the UK-based packaged goods giant that acquired Ben & Jerry's for over two decades.

Both founders have asserted that the parent company along with their ice cream division the Magnum brand improperly prevented their company against "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Flavor as an Emblem of Support

Mr. Cohen stated through an Instagram video how he's developing a new watermelon-flavored sorbet, requesting consumer ideas regarding naming options plus additional components.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” the founder declared from a cooking set. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that calls for lasting ceasefire in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem for solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its colors, that match the colors in Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Social Engagement plus Current Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, resulting in the parent company selling the Israeli operation to a local licensee, thus allowing ongoing distribution in the occupied West Bank.

The new dessert series is being created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the socially conscious dessert company which was first established several years back for endorsing former political contender Bernie Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts and Future Plans

The founder stated that he plans to create additional ice cream flavors focusing on concerns which the company was silenced from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after partner Jerry Greenfield stepped down from the company in September, after many years of involvement, citing concerns regarding how the company's autonomy was compromised after Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Mr. Cohen commented how "Jerry has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work within the organization to fight for its independence ensuring that the company can actualise its ethical purpose, the principles which it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to media outlets.
